Smack upside the head.

I was really enjoying vacation...

...so much so that I left a LOT of things for myself to do today. I'm such a procrastinator.

First off, I was supposed to call my new preceptor's office on Friday to get his schedule for Monday, so that I could study-up appropriately for my first day. Of course, I forgot to do this. So today I'm going to study everything: hernia repairs, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, etc, etc.

I also have to do something with the 2 white coats that have been crumpled into a ball in my back seat since I left Montana. Like, wash and iron them...

Then there is the matter of taking a test drive down to where I will be going tomorrow morning. CJ laughed at this, but there is nothing funny about getting lost on your first day. I freak out in these situations.

I also need to run down to the local uniform shop and grab a pair of scrubs, just in case the first day he is doing some messy procedure in the office. And maybe some eyewear after hearing Jason's story about bloodborne exposures.

No laying out at the pool for me.

Completely unrelated, but on Friday (while I was NOT calling my new preceptor's office) I went to my first horsemanship lesson. While in Montana I promised myself that I would start up some lessons for my own enjoyment and I actually did it. I'll be learning not only to ride, but groundwork, grooming, saddling, feeding, etc, etc. In just my first hour, I learned to pick out the horse's feet, groom, saddle, bridle, make the horse walk backwards for me while I was on the ground, and did a little bareback riding in the arena (it was 100 degrees, too hot to make the poor horse actually wear the saddle). Then I got to feed their baby cow out of a bottle, which was perhaps the cutest thing ever.

Anyway, I think despite it all, it is going to be a good day. If I prepare myself *really* well today, I can only make so much of an ass of myself tomorrow, right?

Jen

PS - saw Dark Knight last night with CJ...and I still have to say that I don't like movies made out of comic books.
